Wide belt
A wide belt is a wide abrasive belt for stationary grinding machines. It usually starts at a width of around 500 mm and is used for large-area machining, e.g. for plates or sheets or for flat serial production parts.
Clear benefits are stock removal and a uniform surface over a large total area. This often makes it possible to eliminate several work steps or prevent marks on the surface caused by the abrasive belt repositioning itself.
Typical problems when using wide belts:
- Uneven belt running
- Chatter marks
