Coating method
The coating method describes how the abrasive grains are applied. It influences the alignment and cutting effect of the grains.
VSM distinguishes between two coating methods: Electrostatic coating and mechanical coating. In the electrostatic coating process, the working grain is not scattered onto the backing material, but drawn upwards by electrical voltage. It automatically aligns itself while in motion so that it hits the backing material vertically and is fixed there in the maker coat. This process takes place on VSM’s own production line.
What effect does coating method have on service life, stock removal and surface?
- Even distribution improves grinding
- Targeted grain distribution increases stock removal
Typical problems with errors in the coating process
- Uneven grain distribution
- Poorer grinding performance
